Athenas win program’s fourth title; Kang is individual champ

The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women’s golf team won its fourth Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championship by beating the University of Redlands by 35 stokes over the course of the four regular season rounds plus the three championship rounds.

Stags clinch SCIAC Title, earn automatic qualification

The usually quiet Los Serranos Country Club broke out in applause and celebration as the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men’s golf team won its 12th Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference title, punching its ticket to the NCAA Championship.

After a fourth place finish in the first day of the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championship, the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men’s golf team came back on Monday with a much-improved performance and scored 291 to climb up to first place.

Athenas post low round again, lead SCIAC Championships by 27

The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women’s golf team is in the lead of the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championship tournament by 27 strokes over Pomona-Pitzer and 41 strokes lower than the University of Redlands in the overall conference standings.

The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women’s golf team extended their lead in the conference standings up to 28 strokes over the University of Redlands in the first day of the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Tournament. Freshman Taylor Hughes (CMC) leads the field after posting a 73 on the day.

Tight field in men’s SCIAC Champs

April 23, 2017

Only four strokes separated the top four teams in the first day of the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championships on Sunday. The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men’s golf team sits in fourth place in the tournament with a team score of 299, trailing the leader, La Verne at 295.

Solid team display earns CMS final game win

After a long and challenging season, the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women’s water polo team closed its final game of the year on a high note with a 13-11 victory over Chapman University on Sunday afternoon.

Stags score 30 in split with Poets

April 22, 2017

The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps baseball team scored 30 runs in Saturday’s double header split with Whittier College. In the slugfest marathon that was the first game of the day, the Poets prevailed with the 14-11 victory over the Stags. CMS threw senior Sam Baughman (CMC) in the final game of the series for the Stags to earn the 19-3 victory.

Seniors shine as Stags blank No. 12 UC San Diego

The No. 3 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men’s tennis team honored seniors Alex Brenner (CMC), Glenn Hull (CMC), Max Macey (CMC), Daniel Morkovine (CMC), and Rohan Shankar (HMC), and all five contributed to a dominant shutout of Division II No. 12 UC San Diego on Saturday.

Lopsided split for Softball at Whittier

April 22, 2017

The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps softball team split with Whittier College in a Jekyll and Hyde double header at Whittier’s Palmer Field on Saturday afternoon. The Athenas (19-15, 17-7) took game one in decisive fashion, 8-0, but then the Poets (17-19, 13-11) came roaring back in the nightcap to return the shutout, 8-0.

Senior day started and ended well for the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women’s lacrosse team as the members of the graduating class each made a notable impact in their 17-5 victory over Occidental College (11-5, 5-5) on Saturday afternoon.

Following the tough opening round loss to Cal Lutheran, the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women’s water polo team bounced back in the second day of the SCIAC Tournament with a big 15-10 victory over Occidental College.

Athenas sweep Sagehens 1-0 and 5-1

April 21, 2017

In the second softball Sixth Street Rivalry of the season, Claremont-Mudd-Scripps earned the sweep with a tight 1-0 victory in game one and then the 5-1 win in the nightcap. The Athenas (18-14, 16-6) held Pomona Pitzer (10-26, 6-18) to just one run in 14 innings while sophomore Chloe Amarilla (CMC) went yard in the first game and freshman Kylie Hetzel (HMC) provided three RBI in the second.
