Athletics Week In Review (Full Version)

============= Fall – Men===============

Men’s Water Polo
The Stags had the last week off in order to prepare for the NCAA Men’s Water Polo Championships play-in game at USC on Dec. 3 at 7 p.m. It will be the first time CMS has participated in the NCAA Championships. CMS is one of only six teams remaining nationally. The Stags are currently on a 17-match winning streak and went undefeated against conference opponents in 2015. In addition, they earned their 26th conference title a week ago after beating Whittier in the finals of the SCIAC Championships.

====================== Winter – Women========================

Women’s Basketball
The Athenas split a pair of contests in the David Wells Classic over the weekend. A strong fourth-quarter effort helped CMS to pull away for the 69-53 victory over Willamette (Ore.) on Nov. 27. Kailee Severt (CMC ’18) led the team in points with 22, but Kayalin Akens-Irby (CMC ’18) made a noticeable impact off the bench with 10 points and five rebounds, including a perfect field-goal percentage. The Athenas fell to Puget Sound (Wash.) in the second game of the tournament 76-67 on Nov. 28 despite a quality night from Alyson Young (CMC ’17), who finished with 19 points and eight rebounds. A Dec. 5 road matchup with Westmont will be the next test for the 4-1 Athenas.

Women’s Swim and Dive
The CMS swimming and diving teams will return to action this week at the AT&T Winter National Championships in Federal Way, Wash., on Dec. 3-4. The Athenas and Stags swept Chapman and Cal Lutheran in their first SCIAC meet of the year on Nov. 7, and will look to continue their recent conference success Dec. 5 at Axelrood Pool against Redlands. The meet begins at 10 a.m. with diving.
