=============== Winter – Women===================

Women’s Basketball
The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women’s basketball team went 2-0 last week with wins over Occidental (62-37) on Jan. 5 and at Whittier (66-46) on Jan. 9. Junior Kris Brackmann (CMC) and sophomore center Kailee Severt (CMC) each scored 14 points to lead CMS against Occidental while Claire Donnelly (CMC) scored a team-high 12 in the win at Whittier. Senior forward Mara Falahee (SCR) was all over the boards with 25 rebounds in the two games. CMS is now 10-4 overall and in first place in conference at 5-0. The Athenas defeated Caltech in Pasadena on Jan. 12. Next, they host Chapman (Jan. 16) at the Rains Center.

Women’s Swim and Dive
The Athenas had two meets during the week. They lost at NCAA Division II Cal Baptist 77-161 on Jan. 8 and then bounced back the following day with a win over Occidental by a score of 196-76. Freshman Riley Hoffman (CMC) won three individual events (100 back, 200 back and 200 IM) and swam on two winning relay teams (200 medley and 500 free) over the course of the two meets. Next on the schedule for CMS is the UCLA Diving Invite on Jan. 15. Then on Jan. 16, CMS travels to Whittier to take on Whittier and Caltech in SCIAC competition. CMS is now 4-0 in SCIAC dual meets at the mid-point of the conference season.

====================== Winter – Men========================

Men’s Basketball
The Stags went 0-2 last week with an overtime loss to Occidental (67-62) on Jan. 6 and a loss at Whittier (84-61) on Jan. 9. Sophomore forward Nicolas Segura (CMC) scored 14 in the loss to Oxy while sophomore guard Joey Malgesini (CMC) scored 13 to lead CMS at Whittier. CMS is now 6-6 overall and 0-3 in conference which puts them in eighth place. The Stags take on two first place teams this week: at Caltech (Jan. 13) and home against Chapman (Jan. 16).


Men’s Swim and Dive

The Stags competed in two meets during the last week. They lost at NCAA Division II Cal Baptist 115-128 on Jan. 8, then returned home on Jan. 9 and defeated Occidental 188-86. Junior Matthew Williams (CMC) swam on four winning relay teams and also won two individual events over the weekend for the most wins for the Stags. Next on the schedule for CMS is the UCLA Diving Invite on Jan. 15. Then on Jan. 16, CMS travels to Whittier to take on Whittier and Caltech in SCIAC competition. CMS is now 4-0 in SCIAC dual meets at the mid-point of the conference season.
