Athletics Week In Review (Full Version)

=============== Winter – Women===================

Women’s Basketball
The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women’s basketball team went 2-1 after returning from winter break. The Athenas followed up a 68-63 loss to Lewis & Clark (Ore.) with two decisive victories to get back on track. Kris Brackmann (CMC ’17) and Claire Donnelly (CMC ’17) tied for the team lead in points (14) against Smith College (Mass.), while Jai Dungca’s (CMC ’17) season-high, 26-point performance led CMS to its second conference victory of the year in the 71-59 win over La Verne. The Athenas will play the final game of a four-game home stand Jan. 5 against Occidental at 7:30 p.m.

Women’s Swim and Dive
The CMS swimming & diving programs will return to action this week with a meet on back-to-back days. The men’s and women’s teams will compete in the Cal Baptist Distance event on Jan. 8, before hosting Occidental at Axelrood Pool on Jan. 9. The Stags and Athenas have performed very well against conference competition so far this season and hope to continue that trend this week.

====================== Winter – Men========================

Men’s Basketball
The Stags lost two games last week in their first appearance on the court since Dec. 2. CMS fell 73-59 to Concordia despite a strong performance from starter Kendrick Morris (CMC ’18), who shot 7 for 9 from the field to finish with 15 points. Evan Davis (CMC ’19) came off the bench to lead CMS in scoring against La Verne, but La Verne eked out the 63-58 victory with a strong second-half push. The Stags host Occidental at the Rains Center on Jan. 6 at 7:30 p.m. as they look to rebound from the two losses.
