Athletics Week In Review (Extended Version - Word)

=========== Fall – Women=============

Women’s Basketball
The Athena basketball team went 3-0 over the winter break, beating Johns Hopkins 65-61 and Milwaukee School of Engineering 89-63 in the CMS-Caltech Classic and then topped Redlands 61-51 in a doubleheader with the men’s team.  Against Hopkins, Kimberly Scamman (CMC ’15) had 41 points while going 15-for-20 from the field. Against MSOE, five Athenas had a double-digit scoring night: Kris Brackmann (CMC ’17), Claire Donnelly (CMC ’17), Kailee Severt (CMC ’18), Alyson Young (CMC ’17) and Scamman. CMS, leading the SCIAC with a 4-0 record and 10-3 overall, goes on the road to play Chapman on Jan. 10.

Women’s Swimming and Diving
The Athena swimming and diving team took a little time off but is now back on campus preparing to compete Jan. 9 in the Cal Baptist Distance Meet and then against Cal Lutheran at home on Jan. 10. The diving is slated to begin at 10 a.m. with the swimming following at 11 a.m.

===================== Winter – Men ====================

Men’s Basketball
The No. 23 Stag basketball team was 2-1 over the break, with wins over Westmont (79-64) and Redlands (68-44) while coming up short against No. 20 Wisconsin-Stevens Point (71-65). Shelby Lane (CMC ’16) and Nick Lund (CMC ’16) were big contributors offensively and defensively in the Westmont game, collectively going 14-for-18 from the field. CMS is 8-2 overall and 1-0 in SCIAC play. The Stags go on the road to face Caltech on Jan. 8 and Chapman on Jan. 10.

Men’s Swimming and Diving
The Stag swimming and diving team took a little time off but is now back on campus preparing to compete Jan. 9 in the Cal Baptist Distance Meet and then against Cal Lutheran at home on Jan. 10. The diving is slated to begin at 10 a.m. with the swimming following at 11 a.m.
