===================== Spring Sports – Women ====================
Women’s Water Polo
The women’s water polo team went 2-0 last week, defeating Redlands (10-9) and Caltech (10-0). Against Redlands, Shannon Golden (CMC ’17) led the Athenas with three goals. Against Caltech, Roxy Kiessling (CMC ’18) also scored three goals to lead the Athenas. The Athenas are now 8-14 overall and 5-0 in SCIAC. The Athenas are in action next at Whittier at 7 p.m. April 8.
Women’s Golf
The women’s golf team competed in the second SCIAC tournament of the spring and finished in second place (612) behind Redlands (595), edging Whittier College (613). The Athenas were in second after the first day, trailing Redlands by nine strokes but weren’t able to close the gap in the second round as Redlands bested CMS by eight strokes in that round. The best individual performance for CMS came from Taylor Kain-Godoy (CMC ’17), who shot a 77 in the first round and a 74 in the second. CMS has finished second in both SCIAC meets this spring and is next in action at the SCIAC Championships at Oak Valley Golf Club in Beaumont on April 26-28.
Softball
The Athenas went 2-2 over the weekend as they lost both games to Whittier (7-0, 5-3) on Friday and then swept Occidental (11-2, 3-1). In the losses to Whittier, catcher Chloe Rodman (CMC ’18) threw out two runners trying to steal. In the games verses Occidental, Sarah Whitney (CMC ’18) batted .500, with a double, three runs scored and two RBIs to lead the Athenas. The Athenas are now 18-8 overall and 12-6 in SCIAC. The Athenas take the field next at first place Whittier, at 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. April 10.
Women’s Tennis
The CMS women’s tennis team went 1-0 last week as it swept Redlands 9-0. This win keeps the Athenas atop the SCIAC with a perfect 4-0 record and an impressive 15-1 record overall. The Athenas were dominant throughout the match. The No. 1 doubles pair of Caroline Ward (CMC ’16) and Katie Kuosman (CMC ’17) didn’t give up a single game as they won 8-0. In the singles portion, no Athena lost a set, defeating all of their opponents in two sets. The Athenas are next in action April 10 at home against Sixth Street rival Pomona-Pitzer at 2 p.m.
Women’s Track & Field
The women’s track & field team competed in the Pomona-Pitzer Invitational last weekend. Carmen Mejia (SCR ’17) shattered the previous school record in the 800 with a time of 2:09.40 (the old mark was 2:11.63) and her time currently leads the nation. Madi Knaub (CMC ’15) won her sections of both the 100 and 200 meters with personal bests of 12.51 and 25.30, respectively. Anna Shepard (CMC ’17) won the second section of the 5,000 with a personal best of 18:46.55. Becca Stewart (SCR ’18) won her section of the 400 hurdles with a personal best of 64.89. The 4 x 100 relay team of Knaub, Hanna Tarleton (CMC ’17), Aiyanna Cameron-Lewis (CMC ’18) and Tyra Abraham (SCR ’18) won in a season best of 47.83. The Athenas will compete next in a meet at home against Caltech, Chapman, Cal Lutheran and Whittier on April 11 starting at 11 a.m.
Women’s Lacrosse
The women’s lacrosse team went 0-1 during the week with a road loss to Occidental (9-8). In the loss, Lauren Clubb (CMC ’18) and Mikaela Connell (CMC ’18) led CMS with two goals apiece. The Athenas are now 7-3 overall and 4-2 in SCIAC. The Athenas are next in action at Redlands at 7 p.m. April 8.

Men’s Golf
The CMS men’s golf team did not compete last week but the Stags are next in action in the second SCIAC meet at Los Serranos on April 11-12.
Baseball
The CMS baseball team did not play last week but are back in action at Redlands on April 10 at 3 p.m.
Men’s Tennis
The CMS men’s tennis team went 4-0 last week with wins over Williams (8-1), Redlands (8-1), Gustavus Adolphus (9-0) and Westmont (9-0). In singles play, Warren Wood (CMC ’15) and Nikolas Moreno (CMC ’15) went 4-0 and also 4-0 in their respective doubles matches. The CMS men’s tennis team is now 19-1 overall and 3-0 in SCIAC. The Stags next visit their Sixth Street rival, Pomona-Pitzer, at 2 p.m. April 10.
Men’s Track & Field
The men’s track and field team competed at the Pomona-Pitzer Invitational last weekend. The Stags broke a CMS record and won several heats or flights in the meet. Matt Wong (CMC ’17) broke his own record in the long jump, winning with a mark of 7.25m (23-9.5). Justin Jones (HMC ’15) won his section of the 800 with a season best of 1:53.85. Arch Robison (HMC ’18) won his section of the 1,500 with a personal best of 4:16.97. The 4 x 400 relay team of Mac Hightower (CMC ’16), Ryan Jones (HMC ’16), Sean Mahre (HMC ’18) and Will Clausen (HMC ’15) won the second section with a time of 3:27.84. Davis Catolico (CMC ’18) won his flight of the triple jump with a mark of 40-9.75 and Sam Perrella (CMC ’15) won his section of the discus throw with a season best of 138-10. The Stags compete next at home in a meet against Caltech, Chapman, Cal Lutheran and Whittier on April 11 starting at 11 a.m.

Men’s Rugby
The Lions are next in action on April 11 in the national Round of 16 vs. New Mexico Highlands College. The match will be hosted by the California Maritime Academy in Vallejo, Calif. Kickoff is scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
Women’s Rugby
The Foxes now transition to the seven a-side game, hoping for a birth in the National Small College Rugby Organization's National Championships in early May.
Men’s Lacrosse
The Claremont Cougars men’s lacrosse club returned from its spring break for a game Saturday against the University of California, Santa Barbara. Although Kevin Lynch (CMC '17) had a goal and an assist, the Cougars lost 12-3. The next game is at 4 p.m. April 11 on Parents Field against Chapman University.
