Catherine Allen, Nikolai Parodi Earn CMS Athlete of the Year Honors

CLAREMONT, Calif - After earning All-America honors and leading their teams to their NCAA Championship matches, junior tennis players Catherine Allen and Nikolai Parodi earned the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Female Athlete of the Year and Male Athlete of the Year Awards in a vote of the department's head coaches and support staff, it was announced today.

In addition, junior diver Kendall Hollimon was named the Claremont McKenna College Male Athlete of the Year and senior midfielder Corie Hack of the women's lacrosse team was named the Claremont McKenna College Female Athlete of the Year.

Allen completed her junior year with a 23-3 record in singles and a 34-4 record in doubles, all while playing at the No. 1 position. She led the Athenas to a 27-2 overall record and a runner-up finish in the NCAA Division III Championships, after a narrow 5-4 defeat to Wesleyan in the national championship match. She was also part of a national-championship winning doubles team with Caroline Cox (after they defeated teammates Nicole Tan and Sarah Bahsoun in the finals), the first CMS women's tennis doubles team to win a national title, and reached the semifinals of the NCAA Division III Singles Championship.

Parodi, meanwhile, helped CMS to a No. 1 national ranking through all of April and May, as well as an appearance in the national championship match against Emory. He won 48 matches (24 singles, 24 doubles, with all but four matches while playing No. 1), despite missing the fall season while studying abroad and reached the quarterfinals of the NCAA Division III Singles Championship to earn All-America honors for the third straight year. He also completed a singles/doubles sweep at the Ojai Tournament for the third straight season, teaming with doubles partner Julian Gordy to finish first and earn a No. 1 ranking at the end of the regular season.

Hollimon earned All-America honors for the third straight season by coming in third place in the three-meter dive at the NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships. He won SCIAC titles in both the one-meter and the three-meter dives for the third year in a row, dominating by over 60 points in both events despite missing the fall season while studying abroad. His third-place finish at nationals was his highest finish in his career, after coming in fourth in each of his first two seasons, and he came within just five points of the national champion.

Hack was named the SCIAC Offensive Player of the Year for the women's lacrosse team for the second season in a row, while also earning All-West Region honors for the second straight year (All-America honors will be announced on Monday). She became only the third player in program history to record 200 career goals, reaching the milestone on her Senior Day with six goals in a win over Pomona-Pitzer, and ended in second place in program history with 213 goals. She helped the Athenas to a 36-0 record against SCIAC opponents over her final three seasons, including three 10-0 regular seasons and three tournament championships.

Today's announcement concludes the postseason awards from the CMS athletics department and the three colleges, with several others voted on before the conclusion of the athletic year in order to present them at the senior awards ceremonies. The complete list is as follows:
